About this coffee

The Cerrado Mineiro region is Brazil’s first protected Designation of Origin for coffee, renowned globally for its ideal growing conditions. Located in the state of Minas Gerais, this high-altitude region (1,000 to 1,300 meters) benefits from a perfect combination of climate, rich soils, and a well-defined wet and dry season, which allows for consistent coffee production year after year. Capeca’s farmers are rooted in this land, where the unique terroir enhances the flavors and quality of the coffee. The region’s importance to the global coffee industry cannot be overstated—its diverse microclimates and consistent weather patterns produce coffees that are known for their balanced acidity, smooth body, and natural sweetness.

Founded in 1974, Capeca Cooperative has grown into one of the most respected cooperatives in the region, representing over 450 coffee-growing families. The cooperative spans an impressive 9,135 hectares of production area, with an annual output of 150,000 (60-kg bags) of coffee, making it a significant contributor to the specialty coffee sector.

The cup profile gives us everything we want in a good Brazilian coffee: good body and sweetness, mild acidity and heavy chocolate and nutty flavours without any fruit notes. A true crowd pleaser.
