Colombia El Colibri

About this coffee

El Colibri is a blend that consists of coffee from 21 farmers around the villages of Pitalito, Palestina and Acevedo  in the Huila department. The coffee is grown between 1.600 and 1.900 meters above sea level. We procured this lot through Plurilateral Solutions. The lot consisted of 55 bags in total. A 10% premium was paid above the official price set by the national coffee federation (FNC – government). There are several benefits for the producers to work directly with Plurilateral:

• Shortens the intermediary chain.
• Prevents producers from being forced to sell only to the FNC government at their fixed price.
• Plurilateral are monitoring the quality of each producer’s coffee to help them correct any flaws and enhance their quality and create and develop long term relationships with them. 
• Plurilateral are profiling the taste of each producer to eventually market it separately under their blend El Colibri
• Plurilateral aim to build loyalty in the relationship with the producers to allow a reliable offer and supply to customers over time.

When the coffee passed the cupping table we liked it for its fruit and floral flavours, mild acidity and good structure. You’ll find flavours of chocolate, almond and orange in the cup. Works great for espresso and milk based drinks. Really good value for money!
